About Linda Lee Legard, age 67, passed away in Norton Shores, MI, on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Linda was born in Charlevoix, MI, on October 30, 1955, to Franklin and Katherine (Feick) Sneathen. She graduated from Charlevoix High School, where she was captain of the volleyball team. On June 28, 1980, she married John Legard, and together they had two sons, Jason and Michael. Linda's greatest asset was her commitment and dedication to hard work, working for three years at Big Rock Point Nuclear Plant, then for 42 years at J.H. Campbell Plant, where she made many close friends over the course of her career before having to retire in 2022 due to being unable to work after a year-long battle with mesothelioma cancer. Her best attribute was trying to make others smile and be happy by always putting others before herself. Linda loved spending time outdoors, whether it was going for a walk, a picnic, or just sitting and enjoying the fresh air. She loved watching the birds at her feeders, making a daily list of the birds she saw, and could identify most birds just by their call. As knowledgeable as she was about birds, she knew just as much about wildflowers. She loved hockey and was a season ticket holder for the Muskegon Lumberjacks for many years. She was a gifted artist, especially painting and doing pen and ink drawings, but also loved quilting, cross stitching, and photography. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening, but also loved canning and pickling different fruits and vegetables for her family. She loved reading and always had a house full of books. One of her greatest passions was taking care of the less fortunate, especially during the holidays. For many years she arranged the Easter and Christmas gift donations at J.H. Campbell, delivering gifts to thousands of less fortunate children over the years. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, John Legard; two sons: Jason (Allison Bubnis) Legard and Michael Legard; granddaughter and best friend, Lauren Legard; brother, John (Carol) Sneathen; sister, Patty (Gunnar) Samson; mother in-law: Sally Legard; brother in-law: Tom Legard; sister in-law, Sheri (David) Ramos; special friend, Kristin Henry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Katherine Sneathen, and her father in-law, Robert Legard. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place for Linda at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, with VISITATION taking place from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, as well as an hour prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to Muskegon Toys for Tots (PO Box 1263, Muskegon 49443) or MD Anderson Cancer Center (PO Box 4486 Houston, TX 77210-4486 or www.mdanderson.org/gifts) for Mesothelioma Research.
