About Me I added some stuff to my interests. Sailing was a huge part of my life for several years. Check it out. We can swap stories. We need a car. Desperately. I am Mom my 3 teenagers, "moms" to all their friends. I have no car. It is a real life f-er upper., we need A CAR DESPERATELY for my family to thrive. The lack of transportation is a huge disadvantage for all of us. If you can help us, please be in touch, email us @ s_lalios@yahoo.com. You can uplift us to the next level. I have a beautiful, gifted 19 yr. old daughter, Giana Gayle, that is the light of my life, I wish so much for her. I have a gifted 21 year old son, Costa(like roller costa). He is a very talented poet/free style rapper with dreams of success. He works at his music constantly. His lyrics are amazing, vivid, words you can almost see the images he creates with his words. I live for them, but they don't want mommy's input. If you have teens, you know what I mean. My 15 yr. old, Lucas, has a rare epilepsy that causes language regression & eventually may not be able to speak or understand what is being said to him. Landau-KLeffner Syndrome, see FOLKS.com. Only 500 or so cases since 1950, so treatment is all pretty much trial & error. He takes massive amounts of anti-seizure meds every day. I don't know how he handles it & stays lucid, but he is ok in the am & sometimes regresses to no speaking by the end of the day. He'll whistle or clap his hands so I know he needs something. He has a developmental delay & may never read, he has seizures 24/7, if youdon't know him you don't notice, but they occur every few seconds or minutes... destroying his flow for reading & math, etc. They keep him from being able to focus & remember his letters & numbers. I can't imagine never being able to have a conversation with him so I talk with him pretty much constantly. I try to give him space & privacy too, he is 14 & puberty has hit. Loves, loves the girls & walks right up to them & flirsts, then tells us "she's hot!" Dear God, please don't take away his voice & cognition of language. That would be prison for his mind & spirit. I would be devestated. The world would lose a great creative, funny, soulful expression of spirit that is truly unique & has enriched the lives of everyone who has the good fortune to meet him & spend time with him. In my misspent youth, I was a first mate on a 46' Morgan motor sailboat, I was certified & set courses for destinations, tongue of the ocean was so insane, as was the triangle. Did most watches, took gaffer hooks for square grouper but never did get to use them. Went to the Bahamas a second time in 21' sailboat, no motor. Just the captain & me. That was nuts! Alot of setting courses by the stars. If I could I would live on a nice motor 46' Morgansail. Forever!~ Just going from place to place, or going nowhere living life on the high seas. l can dream, can't I? Lucas loves the water, boats & fishing. He has mad skills. Now, I spend most of my spare time just growing Lucas' vocabulary & engaging him in conversation almost continually. More about me next time..it's 3:36 a.m. I enjoyed this first venture into Facebook. Hope I find some friends. It gets kind of lonely sometimes. I miss walking the boards. I miss all those kids... their enthusiam is so good for the soul, theirs & mine. Take risks but be safe. That is an oxymoron. Oh I love chess & scrabble. And my favorite place to be with my children is the b...(read more)
