GARFIELD D. POWELL JR

Class of 1970

Graduated in 1970
Attended Memphis State University (MSU), pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., in 1971. Left MSU went into the Army, retired after 20 years as first sergeant in the California Army National Guard. Moved to San Franscisco California, in 1979. Graduated from Laney College, in Oakland California (LVN) with honors. Graduated from San Francisco City College ADN RN. Worked and retired in 2008 from the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center, after 30 years. Graduated from University of Phoenix, in 1998 (BS in Science, Nursing, with high honors) Part-time nursing professor at San Francisco State, since 2001 to present. Graduated San Francisco State University in 2003, Master's in Science, selected for Distinguished Achievement Graduate Student of the year for Nursing for Academic Excellence. Member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing.
