Richard Langford

Class of 1971

Its a travesty that Voorheesville High does not have some sort of Athletic Hall of Fame. Sports play such an integral part of a young students life, providing (hopefully) good work ethics and sportsmanship, as well as friendships and memories that can last a lifetime.

Voorheesville has a very rich history of success, both on an individual and team level, in cross-country that dates back to the 60's. I can think of many runners who graced Voorhessville halls, long before the advent of the current all-weather track that was desired for for so many years.

My nomination for Athletic Hall of Fame (if there ever was to be one) would have to include both a runner and a coach whose love for his sport was so ingrained in the early
days of success for Voorheesville's cross-country and track and field program: Rich Langford and coach Ken Kirik.

How is it possible that Voorheesville does not have a sports Athletic Hall of Fame? amazing.

Sincerely,

Charles Rogers
