School & Community News

Billy David Langley

Those who went to Broken Bow High during World War II may remember my brother Billy David Langley, who died last Thursday. I remember him from my early years living on a farm in McCurtain County and when he drove the school bus on my bus route. After we moved back to Texas in 2001, I saw him much more often and really got to know him much better. In his spring semester (1946), Bill told me, he refused to take a whipping from the principal and was denied the right to graduate. So, he joined the US Army and in service got his high school graduation equivalency. He became a model soldier, a model husband and father, and friend to all who knew him. Danny Langley
