Charles Edward Quintal, Jr.

POCASSET - Charles Edward Quintal, Jr., 35, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2017, yet another victim of this insidious opioid epidemic.

He was born on July 21, 1981 in Falmouth and grew up in Pocasset. He graduated from Bourne High School in 1999.

Charlie loved to spend time with his son, loved nature, the water and traveling. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and would debate anyone, anytime about anything and was usually right. His chosen profession was carpentry and he was a skilled craftsman. He could take any piece of wood and transform it into something beautiful.

Charlie had a spark for life and was always ready for an adventure. He loved his son, his family and friends unconditionally.

Heroin found its way into Charlie’s life very unexpectedly and, like the devil, took over his thoughts, choices and the ability to live a normal life. It invaded that spark, took hold and even after a long time in recovery and the ability to refuse it, the demon came back. In a weak moment it took over, extinguished the spark and took our wonderful Charlie forever. As it almost always does, it won.

All who knew him will always remember his smile and the Charlie chuckle.

Please spread the word that addiction is a disease, it is a nightmare for the addict and all who love them. Please show support not condemnation.
A celebration of Charlie’s life was held.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the Bourne Fire and Rescue Dept. and the Bourne Police Dept. for their rapid response and efforts to avert this outcome. We should all be thankful for the job they do.
