About ANN MARIE VALENTI

1956 - 2015

Ann Marie Valenti, 58, passed away peacefully February 5, 2015 in Las Vegas.

Her many friends from church, her workplace, the P.E.O Sisterhood, Chapter "W", and her life in Cape Cod, Mass. walked with her on the last leg of her brave journey.

Sadly, cancer could not be defeated this third time around.

Ann Marie was born Nov. 29, 1956 in Bourne, Mass. to Pauline Brackett Young and Francis O'Jalla.

She was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Robert; sisters, Donna and Patricia; and her husband, Michael.

After graduating from Bourne High School, she attended three years of college.

Her first job was working with her mother and sister at the Bourne Mill, a much loved, special occasion restaurant. She received a penny each for writing a little thank you message on guest receipts. Later, she sang for the enjoyment of the patrons.

Her other jobs included baking bagels, selling Weekenders clothing, assisting with summer camp, and clerking ta a local bank.

Music was her first love.

She soloed frequently at Swift Memorial United Methodist Church in Sagamire Beach, Mass. and eventually directed the choir there. She also directed a highly-regarded mixed chorus known as Saints and Singers.

She and Michael moved to Las Vegas, and Ann Marie became active in University United Methodist Church, singing in the Chancel Choir and ringing in the Bell Choir.

After Michael's death, she earned certification as a medical biller from Kaplan College and worked for Doctors XL until she passed away.

Those who knew Ann Marie will always remember her wonderful singing voice, her inspiring, upbeat attitude, and her loving concern for her friends and family. She lived life abundantly, strong in her faith and generous with her talents.

We celebrated her life at a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at University United Methodist Church, 4412 S. Maryland Parkway, right across from UNLV.

There was a reception immediately following the service in the church's Worship Center.
