Timothy E Kelly
Class of 1977
Boca High Alum Tim Kelly has forged a business career worthy of induction to the Alumni Wall of Fame. Though his career exploits have provided him with opportunity to travel the world, Tim retains close ties to Boca Raton through his family and network of friends.
Tim parlayed a degree in Marketing from The University of Florida into an advertising position in New York City. There he managed national accounts for several top brands including Burger King, Arm and Hammer, Visine, Arm and Hammer Dental, Crest and Scope. Soon he was targeted by several national firms, including Nike and Sprint, to help them build their brand. Sprint won his services and there he began a twelve-year career in Kansas City.
During the DotCom boom of the late 1990's, Tim was lured away from Sprint to Newport Beach,, California to become President of Tickets.com. According to his corporate bio, during Tim's tenure his accomplishments included implementing new distribution and content partnerships with AOL Digital Cities, Excite, Cox Interactive Media, Yahoo, MP3, etc. He further refined the brand through innovative ticketing and sponsorship partnerships with top selling artists.
But Sprint wanted him back and offered him enough reasons to leave the sun and surf of Southern California for Kansas City. There he was an integral part of the merger between Sprint and Nextel as President of Sprint Consumer Solutions, President Sprint Business, President Sprint Mass Markets and President Customer Management. Tim eventually was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer with responsibility for Sprint Marketing and Product initiatives.
Today, Tim is the CEO of Network Solutions in Herndon, Virginia where he started as President in April, 2009. As a devoted family man with five children, Tim recently settled in Charleston, SC; the native state of his wife, Melissa. Tim is an avid outdoorsman and is an active participant in surfing, paddle surfing and sailing. He has run the New York marathon several times.
Through his marketing duties and corporate sponsorships, Tim has had the great fortune of attending almost all of the major sporting events including the Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, Masters and British Open, Daytona 500, BCS Championship Game, Summer Olympics in Australia and many more. However, every fall Tim finds his way to The Swamp in Gainesville to see his beloved Gators.
