Terry M Reed

Class of 1963

Terry graduated in 1963 and moved to Texas when his dad was transferred. He graduated from East Texas State in 1967 as an ROTC student. He married Sherri and went to train to fly C-130's. On June 23, 1969 Terry's plane was shot down in Vietnam near Katum as they were making a supply run with high explosive shells on board. The plane went down and was destroyed, the body of two crew members were recovered in 1969 but Terry lay in the jungle until 1996 when his body was recovered along with several other crew members. In july 1998 Terry's body was released for burial, on a cold Friday October 30, 1998, Terry along with four others were buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony was beautiful, a C-130 flew over and dipped it's wings. Terry's two sisters, Bonnie and Barbara along with an old aunt attended and were presented a folded flag by a Brigadier General. I am Terry's friend, Dave Rogers and I was blessed to learn of the burial on Oct 26th and was able to bid Terry good bye. He is buried under a majestic oak tree.
