About	Benjamin Franklin Powell, III was born on November 28, 1946 in Bay City, Texas to Benjamin Franklin Powell Jr. and Ola Merle Grobe Powell. On August 30, 1969, he married Marianne Kovacevich in Galveston, Texas. Ben has been a member of Living Word Lutheran Church since 1988, where he served as the Treasurer for The Learning Center. He was president of Thrivent for the Wharton and Fort Bend County Chapter, where in 2006 he received the Volunteer of the Year award for the State of Texas. Ben volunteered with many organizations including Habitat of Humanity, Caring Cabbies, the Global Missions Ministries, and the Angel Food Ministries at Living Word Lutheran Church. He was a mentor volunteer at the Krause Center and a member of the Inter City Network Coalition. Benjamin Franklin Powell, III, of Katy, was called home by the Lord on Monday, November 13, 2006 at his home with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Marianne Powell of Katy; his children, Dr. Bethany Powell of Galveston, Michael and Kimberly Powell of Dallas, and Meredith Powell of Austin; and his brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Connie Powell of Bay City, Texas. His jovial spirit and selfless giving of time and energy will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. Peace, as he always wished for others, is now forever his. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Living Lord Lutheran Church, in Katy, with Rev. Michael Aus officiating.
