He was a graduate of Bay City High School and attended Wharton County Junior College. He was employed by Reed Expositions. He was preceeded in death by his father, Marvin S. Gauthier and a niece, Bethany Gauthier. He is survived by his mother, Albina J. Gauthier of Bay City; a daughter Tracie Gauthier of Midland, Texas; brothers, Marvin A. Gauthier and wife Judy, of Houston, Alan W. Gauthier of Tucson, Arizona; sisters, Jeanine Crow and husband Raymond of Selkirk Island, Renee Smith of San Marcos and Michelle Gauthier of Houston and his nieces and nephews.
