About Funeral arrangements for Kermit Spielman, 73, of Bay City were held 2 p. m. Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Welch officiating. Burial was conducted by Bay City AF and AM Lodge 865 at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

Mr. Spielman was born on Dec. 18, 1916, in Webster City, Iowa, to Elmo Bruce Spielman and Leona Belle Blake, and died July 5, 1990, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Eddie Cole Spielman, who died in 1980.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge 865. He served with the U. S. Army in World War II and was awarded the Silver Medal with two oak leaf clusters for exceptional bravery. He was mobilized in the 36th Rainbow Division of the Texas National Guard in 1939 while attending Texas A & I University in Kingsville and became inactive in 1952 as a captain. He retired from Bay City Independent School District after teaching school from 1952 to 1979.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and William C. Miles of Whitewright, Texas; sisters, Feriba Saul of Humbolt, Iowa, and Ferdel Horton of Austin; brothers, Robert Blake and David Vernon Spielman, both of Austin; four grandchildren, Kermit Alan Miles, Natrece Miles, Chris Miles and Jeremy Miles and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in California, Iowa and Texas.

Pallbearers were Master Masons of the Masonic Lodge 865.
