About Sam Anthony Maglitto

November 1, 1928 – January 8, 2014
Sam Anthony Maglitto passed away January 8, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old.
Sam was born November 1, 1928 to Dave and Rosalie Maglitto in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Tomball High School and the University of North Texas. Sam was an educator at BCISD for over 30 years. His love and dedication to children touched many lives. He was active in the Lions Club, the Bay City Chamber of Commerce, Texas Retired Teachers Association and many other local organizations. His fondest times were singing with the Coastaliers, traveling to Honduras for missions, serving his community, and playing the harmonica for his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Some of his achievements include Outstanding Man of the Year 1977, Lifetime member of Lions Club, Melvin Jones Award for Humanitarian Service 1994 and 2008, Volunteer of the Year Matagorda General Hospital and Matagorda House 1986, Lion of the Year 1987, Black Cat Relays dedicated in his honor 1988, Honduras Medical Mission Team 1993-2008, Inductee into Black Cat Hall of Fame 2008.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Martha; his children, Mike Maglitto, Delaine Faseler (Bob), Cathy Green (Henry), and Mark Maglitto.
He is also survived by his brothers, Dave Maglitto and Carl Maglitto; his grandchildren, Bridget Brown, Gina Green, Phillip Faseler (Erin), Paul Faseler (Deena), Jenny Sloan (Kevin), Payton Faseler and Natalie Maglitto; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Brice, Audrey, Blake, Patrick, Cameron and Claire; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The visitation/reception began at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Parish Hall of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Bay City.
The funeral service followed at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Brad Sullivan officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Coney, Spencer Green, Walter Jefferson, Bobby Kimball, Dick Quinn, Melvin Stone, Burt Williams and all of his former Black Cat Students.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to our cousin, Pat, for all of her care.
