About	James Edgar Cowart Jr. James Edgar Cowart Jr. "Jed", 57, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007, just two months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Jed was born October 4, 1949 to Dr. James Edgar Cowart and Helen Florence Holcomb Cowart in Rusk, Texas. He was the oldest of five children. Jed grew up in Bay City, Texas where he enjoyed scouting, basketball, and baseball. He graduated in 1967 from Bay City High School and continued his education at Brigham Young University. There, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in August of 1973. At the age of 14, Jed, along with his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and went on to serve in the Pacific Northwest Mission at the age of 19. He had a strong conviction of Jesus Christ and was never afraid to share the gospel throughout his life. On June 23, 1971, he married JoAnn Haws in the Logan LDS temple. After a brief stint in Denver and Katy, Texas, Jed and JoAnn made Tacoma their home and raised their six children. After 33 years of marriage, JoAnn passed away September 29, 2004 of ovarian cancer. He married Jackie Romriell May 18, 2006 in Boise, Idaho. Jed was in the insurance business. He liked to travel, play softball, go boating, and spend time with his family. He enjoyed watching his children in their high school and collegiate sports. He was an avid BYU fan and took in as many games as possible. He returned often to his roots in Texas to fish at the gravel pit with his father. He is survived by: his wife Jackie of Pocatello, Idaho; parents Dr. James and Helen Cowart of Bay City, Texas; children, Joseph (Jessica) of Gilbert, Arizona; Julie (Chuck) Burgess of Rigby, Idaho, Jared (Barbara) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Jeff (Jyl) of Wilsonville, Oregon; Jeremy (Jessica) of Cedar City, Utah; Jamie of Rexburg, Idaho; Siblings: Walter (Sandy) of San Antonio, Texas; Tim (Aimee) of Tow, Texas; Mary of San Antonio, Texas and Agatha (Mark) Jenkins of Centreville, Virgina; grandchildren, Samuel, Clara, Avery, Elijah, Henry, Benjamin, Hannah, Eliza Jo, Isabella, Austin, Ashley, Jaycie, William, Madison, Drew and Brinley.
