About	Wayne Roberds, 65, of Angleton passed away September 17, 2012, at the Methodist Hospital after a 10-month battle against cancer, which he overcame. He was born December 8, 1946, in Bay City, Texas to Wilma and Blondie Roberds. Wayne graduated from Bay City High School in 1966 and played football at Baylor University from 1966-1970. After graduating from Baylor he moved to Angleton where he began his teaching and coaching career. He taught for 34 years at Angleton High School and Angleton Middle School. It’s odd that his name was actually Wayne because very little people called him that. His Bay City friends knew him as “Coonie,” while his coaching buddies back in the day called him “Bear,” still to this day most of Angleton knows him as “Coach Roberds.”
