Arise Spight Rose, 30, of Springfield, ILL., formerly of Battle Creek, died Monday, July 31, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, after being sticker at work.
She was born in Battle Creek and was a 1977 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and graduated from Kellogg Community College. While in high school, she was listed in the Who's Who in American High School Students and was a member of the National Honor Society. In 1979, she took first place state honors in communication events sponsored by the Office Education Association and placed second in its national competition. In 1981, she received a bachelor's degree in communications from Micigan State University. She was employed by Kellogg Co., Sales Division, Springfield, ILL., and was territorial manager at the time of her death.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Springfield, it's Young Women's League and served as its announcement clerk. Locally, she was a member of First Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Kenneth Theodore Rose, at home; her parents, The Rev. Charley and Fannie Spight of Battle Creek; paternal grandmother, France Spight of Ripley, Miss.; a brother, Edwin G. Spight of Springfield, ILL.; and a sister, Charlotte Eaddy of Atlanta.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Salem Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home.
