Took chemistry in high school and really liked it. Mr Felmlee announced he would take the 5 students who had the highest grades for a period of time on a tour of the University of WI Chemistry Dept. Was one of the 5. Never expected to go to college as my parents couldn’t afford it. Married 2 years after high school. My first husband had finished 2 years of college. Worked while he finished 2 more years of college & graduated. He went to work for an insurance company. Ended up in N Dakota. Enrolled at NDSU, declared chemistry as my major & math minor. As an incoming freshman was older than other students. Went home and studied. I was older than other students—had been out of HighSchool 4 years. Finished with a BS in chem with math minor. Used it. Worked for Pierce Chemical company in Rockford IL. Was an AssisttProduct Manager. When ProdMgr had a severe accident, we expected him back in 6 months. He never did come back. Became the product manager. Ended doing some traveling for them—went to Puerto Rico for a med tech convention, went to Germany to negotiate a contract to sell rights for reagent formulas but they needed to buy, called on clients at CDC in Washington DC area. Also had 2 children-1 boy,1 girl. They are doing well. They have good values and work hard Have 7 grandchildren. My second husband & I retired in the Branson area. Had a 4 bedroom house on Table Rock lake. At one point my mom came to live with us. She passed away @ 94. 2 years after my husband passed away moved into a condo in Branson. Still drive, do my own cooking, volunteer. Life is good!
