Graduation Year Class of 1972
Date of Passing Mar 29, 2017
About Frank Roskind passed today after a bout with Lymphoma at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore at 62. Frank got both A&P licenses through Aviation HS and the extended 12th program.

He is best remembered by his participation in the TV Show 'It's Academic', in which Frank propelled Aviation HS past many supposedly better Academic Schools, such as Bronx Science, through numerous rounds, providing a very different view of Aviation HS, as not a vocational dumping ground, but a vocational AND academic powerhouse. Back when there were only eight or so channels, the show was widely watched.

Frank was elected Aviation HS Student Organization President, was awarded a Civil Air Patrol Cadet Mitchell Award and attended the Air Force Academy for a brief period. He served as a Chemical Weapons Officer in the DC National Guard during Operation Desert Storm.

Frank has a Law Degree from Catholic University, and undergraduate and masters degrees in Economics. He had retired after a brilliant career with the US Department of Transportation's Federal Rail Administration in January 2017.

Frank led the way for his younger brother Mike Roskind Aviation Class of 1978 and his nephew Trevor Roskind Aviation Class of 2014.

Frank has three children Kathy, David and Patrick. The Roskind family has been donating tool boxes for 30 years at graduation and we will add one in Frank's memory this year.

Frank was involved in reenactments and participated in a number of local theater groups. He was very proud of Aviation HS- and he will be missed by his family and friends.
