About Me | Jeffrey Bork Director of Engineering Automated Processes, Inc. Professional Biography Mr. Jeffrey Bork began his career in Professional Audio Recording after graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Technology, Summa Cum Laude from New York University. His academic record includes an internship stint as technician for 39th Street Music in New York City. After graduation in early 1983, Mr. Bork relocated to the Los Angeles, California area to work for Baby’O Recorders under Studio Manager Rick Perrotta and Owner Raphael Villafane (both now of Royer Labs) as Electronic Maintenance Engineer for the busy 2 room facility. In 1985, Jeffrey moved down the street to become part of a 4 man technical maintenance staff at Sunset Sound Recorders headed by Eric Benton, where his responsibilities initially centered on repairs, session setup, and preventive maintenance across 5 front line studios. In 1987, Mr. Bork was placed in charge of the 2 studios at the Sound Factory portion of Sunset Sound, where he was responsible for planning and supervising the remanufacture of both API 1970’s era consoles for the facility, as well as planning and executing the overall refurbishment of the Studio’s audio systems. 1990 brought further responsibility as Mr. Bork was made Chief of Maintenance at Sunset Sound, placing him in charge of all 5 studios and responsible for the technical staff of the company. When his son was born, Mr. Bork relocated to Minnesota to enter a partnership which successfully maintained several Minnesota area studios. During this time period Mr. Bork engineered a commission of new console modules for the API console in the west coast Design FX Remote truck. API itself employed Mr. Bork first in 1993 as a contract recording console technician and installer and then in 1996 as a staff engineer. After moving to Virginia to work with Paul Wolff at API, much of Jeff’s time was spent engineering electrical and mechanical designs for the 3124+ microphone preamplifier, the 512C microphone preamplifier, the Legacy Plus Console, the 560 Graphic Equalizer, and the 7600 channel strip (Tec Award), while simultaneously serving as purchasing manager and console installation engineer and providing customer interface. When API was purchased by Audio Toys Inc. in 1998, Jeffrey relocated one more to the Baltimore area and in 2005 became Director of Engineering for the company (now re-named back to Automated Processes, Inc.) He continues to supervise the API console production engineering efforts and manage the engineering department. His design projects have included the refinements of the Vision Console series, the 550A equalizer re-issue, the current 550A issue, and Principal design of the 1608 small format mixing console. Supervision of further designs includes the A2D dual microphone preamp with digital conversion, the 5500 dual program ...(read more) |
