What is Mark Tuan known for?

Mark Yien Tuan, known mononymously as Mark, was born in Los Angeles, California on September 4, 1993. He is of Taiwanese descent and attended Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California.

Although not initially keen to pursue a musical career, Mark was encouraged by his friends and family to give it a shot. He was spotted by a scout from JYP Entertainment in 2010 and went to audition. His talent convinced him to drop out of school and move to South Korea, where he refined his abilities in acrobatics, martial arts, singing, rapping, and dancing.

Before his official debut, Mark had his first taste of the entertainment industry with cameo appearances as a backup dancer in 'Dream High 2' and survival-reality program 'WIN: Who is Next'.

Mark debuted as a rapper and vocalist with the K-pop boy group Got7 in 2014. Since then, he's been recognized for his contributions to the band's music, participating in lyric and rap making for several songs. His first solo song with Got7, "OMW", was released as part of the band's third studio album "Present: You". Notably, by December 2021, Mark was credited as songwriter on twenty Got7 songs and co-composer on eight.

Branching out from his music career, Mark also made his mark in the modeling industry with a feature on Dazed Korea's May 2017 issue. Since then, he has graced magazines across South Korea, China, and Thailand.
