What is Debbie Turner known for?

Debbie Turner is an American actress, best known for her role as Marta von Trapp in the film The Sound of Music. Born and raised in Arcadia, California, Turner began her acting career in 1965. In 1964, she won the role of Marta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. She left the film industry not long after the debut of The Sound of Music to complete her education. After a brief return to the film industry in 1979, for a role as a party guest in the film North Dallas Forty, she relocated to Chanhassen, Minnesota in 1985. There, Turner raised four daughters with her husband, Richard Larson.

Turner is not currently active in the film industry, but she continues to regularly visit with her Sound of Music family and has made numerous television appearances. Notably, she appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where she discussed the 45th anniversary of The Sound of Music. Turner has also made other significant contributions, such as serving as one of three float judges for the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade.
