About n Memorial
Georgia Fee was born in 1951 in Ann Arbor, Michigan and received her MFA from California State University, Los Angeles in 1997. She was involved with numerous arts organizations including LA Freewaves Media Festival, Foundation for Art Research, Los Angeles, and Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena. She exhibited and organized exhibitions in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Paris. Georgia and her partner Catherine Ruggles made their home in Los Angeles, New York, and in her favorite city of all: Paris.

Georgia had an all-consuming love of art, and traveled the world in pursuit of it. She loved painting and taking photographs, loved talking to artists and gallerists, loved going to openings, gallery districts and museums, and most of all simply loved looking at art. She co-founded ArtSlant.com in Los Angeles in 2006 with Catherine Ruggles. ArtSlant was Georgia’s creation and her vision, and every facet of it reflects her deep love of art. Her passion and drive enabled ArtSlant to grow from a small art events calendar and online magazine in Los Angeles, to the worldwide network that we now know. Most of all, Georgia was an advocate for emerging artists, writers and galleries everywhere.

Georgia’s passing leaves a void at ArtSlant, but her spirit will always remain. The great sadness we feel is tempered by our memories of Georgia, her laughter, and the times we all shared together. We will continue Georgia’s commitment to growing and sustaining ArtSlant. ArtSlant is Georgia's legacy and we will carry on in her spirit and memory.

Georgia is an inspiration to all of us. With toughness, humor, and grace, she fiercely believed in supporting young artists and writers. Her immense generosity and faith changed many lives. Georgia taught us to experience and enjoy life at its fullest, to live beautifully and artfully.
