About Event
Aptos High School opened in the Fall of 1969...it was a brand new school with Sophmores-Seniors transferring from Watsonville High!! We had teachers from Watsonville, as well as a new group of (very young) energetic new ones as well! It was an amazing time for all at AHS! Our campus was beautiful & tucked up in the hills, looking more like a nice college campus!! The Freshman class was very excited to be the class that would attend the first 4 years!!
But we also had limited facilities for sports & many of our activities took place at other locations. We had no pool, tennis courts, football field, baseball field, etc. We did have a gym where our basketball team could play & we also held many PE classes there. We had no cafeteria and shared this location with the weight room! We played all our football games at Cabrillo College & usually the students gathered in the lower or upper quad...although some still gathered behind the F building and/or up in the woods nearby!! (

Hey all!
I just recently heard (and i`m not joyous about this!!) that the school plans on doing some sort of celebration for Aptos being open 50 years, probably in 2020!!
I put a call into the school to let them know that this is something we have been talking about, kicking around and discussing since before our 40th in 2013!! I left messages for the new principal & Mark Dorfman, Activities Director I believe, to call me & discuss their plans after they return to school in a few weeks!
I`ll keep you posted!!
