U.S. Veteran Warwick, R.I. – Herman B. “Rod” Roderick, 69, a retired Radiology Manager, died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Herman and Alice (Fontes) Roderick. His two sons, Mark C. and Neal P. Roderick as well as his former wife, Marie (McArdle) Roderick-Brown, survive him. Two brothers, Gerald Roderick and Michael Roderick, sisters-in-law, Terri Roderick and Betty Roderick, a niece, Carla Wright, daughter-in-law, Rachel Roderick and “adopted” son, Tulio G. Gasperini also survive him. He was the brother of the late Joseph F. Roderick. Mr. Roderick was a U.S. Air Force, Vietnam era veteran receiving an Honorable discharge and won many distinguished medals and citations for his service. He was a communicant of St. Gregory the Great Church, Warwick and a former Scoutmaster at St. Paul’s Church, Edgewood. He was a past-president of the Norwood Avenue School PTA, Edgewood. Mr. Roderick graduated from Roger Williams University, Bristol. He also received his R.T. (R) from St. Joseph’s Hospital in 1971. He was a past-president of the Rhode Island Society of Radiologic Technology, past-president of the New England Conference of Radiologic Technology, as well as a guest lecturer at CCRI. Mr. Roderick managed the Radiology department at Brooklyn Hospital, Brooklyn, NY and was part of the faculty at Brooklyn College. Services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Historic Swan Point Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI . Interment with Military Honors will follow. VISITATION will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 N.
