Stan Sheid is the only athlete to come out of Newkirk who was a State Champion wrestler an All-State Football player, in the same year. He won the state championship at 190 lbs. at Gallaghe Iba arena against Tony Powell from Pawhuska. He was named first team all-state by the Tulsa World at Tight End his Sr. year as well. Newkirk posted a 13-2 record Stan's Sr. year and ended as State Runner Up, after losing to Davis in the State Championship. To this date, this is the most victories in one year by any Newkirk football team in history.
Stan was also a member of FCA and Student Council his senior year in 1987.
