Service description
After my initial three years, I volunteered for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (bomb disposal) program. Once I was selected, I attended the Naval School Diving and Salvage Training Center in Panama, City, Fl. From there I continued my training around the country. I would continue my tour f duty in this field until retiring. In that time, i acquired certifications as a Naval instructor, Curriculum Developer, AHA CPR/First Aid Instructor, Firearms instructor, Naval Parachutist, Surface and Air Warfare specialist and the hardest to obtain, Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician. My proudest moment in the Navy besides the birth of my two kids was when my brothers Tim and Brian otained the same ank as I and we all three served at the same rank (E-7). I am now retired and reside in Lufkin, TX. Here I travel to jobs clearing bombing ranges around the country. When I am not traveling, I can be found teaching CPR/First Aid, consulting with the local Sheriff's Department, working on curriculum for the local police academy and my favorite pass timem, officiating high school football. In fact, the last game I officiated was at Leveretts Chapel (2007). I hope to officiate more of their games as I have to maintain an unbiased approach but get front row seats to some athletes with huge hearts.
