Service description was fixed wing & helicopter mechanic sent to aircraft school at Ft. Rucker Ala. then Ft.. lewis Wa. then to Ft Riley Kan. for a short time shipped over seas with the first large group on aircraft carrier Iwo jima. We landed or went over the side on rope ladders into landing craft onto the beach at Vung Tao vietnam. Then were transported by C123 aircraft to Ban me thouot I spent two hellish weeks there then was transferred to 50 avn bn 119th avn co. at Pleiku. I worked in the open fronted hanger. pulled guard duty and drove a duty truck. I spent the rest of my time there. |
