Service description Randy is a Tow Gunner, of Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 5. He has served two tours in Iraqi. He took part inover 2,000 miles of counter-improvised explosive divice (IED) sweeps and assisted in over 25 cordon and search missions. January 22 2006, when the lead vehicle was hit by an IED, he ordered his vehicle to take up a position forward to establish a cordon around the blast site. He immediately began to use his tow to scan the surrounding terrain for the triggerman. Later that month while driving Randy's vehicle hit a IED, he and his crew members all survived this hit. Randy was recognize for his action. Randy was named Marine of the 4th quarter in 2006. |
